Teens struggle with unique issues such as identity struggles, peer pressure, social media influence and fitting in. There is an inherent struggle with exerting independence and needing strong parental guidance and support. This can cause a lot of parental/child conflict.
I possess a strong understanding of the developmental challenges of today’s teenagers. Counseling techniques include minimization of negative self-talk that impacts self-esteem and emotional growth. I will work to help your child create balance in their school work, social and extracurricular activities, while minimizing depression, anxiety and worrying about negative outcomes.
Group psychotherapy is another useful tool. Current group offered is the Teen Self Esteem and Mood Management Group that will meet every Tuesday beginning June 18, 2024 from 530p.m.-645p.m. We explore negative thoughts that impact low self-esteem, and challenge negative thinking and foster improved overall sense of self-esteem and self-worth. Further we examine how mood impacts self-esteem along with development of assertiveness in communication skills. This is a well-connected group with supportive teen members that are very welcoming to newcomers.
